Devin Darrington has made numerous stops across the east coast during his football career. Born in Georgia, he spent most of his childhood there before moving to Alabama.

Right before high school started, Darrington and his family packed up and headed north to the Baltimore area, where the running back would attend John Carroll High School for three years. Now, Darrington is on the move for one last time before he flights off to college, this time to Bullis School in Potomac for his senior season.

Rated 3-stars by Yahoo Rivals, Darrington is a hard-nosed and dynamic ball carrier who stands at 5-foot-9 and 198 pounds.

Darrington’s 116.67 Nike+ composite football rating at The Opening combine in Washington, D.C., ranked fourth out 319 athletes who attended the elite, invite only camp. He also lasered a 4.52 40-yard dash and posted a 39.3 inch vertical.

As a junior, Darrington ran for 1,314 yards on 182 carries (7.2 yards per carry), while totaling 16 touchdowns and 1,524 all-purpose yards. His offensive contributions helped John Carroll to a 12-0 record and MIAA Division-B championship while earning the No. 9 spot in the final state poll.

Currently, he holds 22 offers that include Army, Harvard, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Towson, Vanderbilt and Yale. Auburn, Maryland, Missouri and South Carolina have all shown interest in the senior tailback as well.

Darrington said he doesn’t have a favorite school or timetable, and has plans to take the recruiting process “slow” to “make the right decision” for his future.

Q: What made you transfer from John Carroll to Bullis?

A: It was a move I had to make for my family and I. … There were a lot of reasons. One of the main reasons was the training and preparation for the next level, college. I just felt that Bullis was going to get me ready. I was going to a couple practices and workouts beforehand. (Alimamy Kallay), the strength and conditioning coach at Bullis, he coached at John Carroll my freshman year. Then he went over to Bullis to train guys over there. The way they do it at Bullis is just great.

How are you going to fit into the offense with Bullis?

I fit the scheme really well. I really fit the offense, I really like it. Their plays are nice. The (offensive) line is looking really good. The team is looking good. I expect to work a lot. (Coach Pat Cilento) is going to give me the ball and feed me a lot this year. Expect big yardage (laughter).

What are the expectations for yourself and then your team this year?

Win the (IAC) championship. Myself, I say, I don’t want to be under 2,000 yards.

What’s your dream job?

I want to play in the NFL. If that doesn’t work out, then I want to be a certified financial planner, entrepreneur, and investor.

Who do you look up to as a running back?

My favorite running back of all-time is Walter Payton. I used to study Marshawn Lynch, but now he’s retired. Now, it’s Ezekiel Elliott. Just because him and I kind of resemble each other, we can pretty much do everything.
