Towson forward John Davis was shot in the leg after a drive-by shooting in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

Davis is a Philadelphia native and returned to his hometown following Towson’s 69-65 win over Drexel.

Following the game, Coach Pat Skerry allowed Davis to stay in Philadelphia where the senior was shot near his neighborhood.

“We were off today and he wanted to go to his son’s dedication ceremony,” Skerry told ESPN. “His mother called me sometime around midnight, but I was asleep. I called her back in the morning and she told me what had happened.”

Davis was treated for the gunshot wound and was released from the hospital. His status for the rest of the season is undetermined.

Davis averages 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game as the Tigers are currently in third place in the CAA standings.
